Having curly or naturally wavy hair is hard. It is hard to manage it because it tends to be unruly most of the time. Unlike when you have straight hair when all you need to do is run a comb or your fingers through your hair once and it would seem like you have been combing for a couple of hours already.

This is very much different with wavy hair because even if you spent the whole morning brushing your hair, after 30 minutes it gets unruly again.

This is precisely the reason why women go through hair relaxing. Even if they know that it will take a lot from them to keep their hair from getting damaged. There are actually two ways you can have your hair relaxed. The first one is by letting a professional do it for you.

The second one is buying the chemical solution at a nearby drugstore and doing it by yourself at home. Of course, the latter option is by far the cheapest option.

Before you go off speeding to the nearest drugstore you can find, there are a lot of disadvantages when you want to go through the hair relaxing process: One, is getting retouches. Hair eventually grows and so you need to get it relaxed again when it does and that usually takes a maximum of 3 months.

That is if you still want relaxed hair. So it could be very costly for you especially if it is a professional who does your hair. Second is hair damage. Thus, you can expect hair loss or hair breakage. Sometimes when the chemical gets into your scalp, you can also experience minor scalp irritation. Third is you need to take care of your hair more because of what it has been through. Thus, it needs to be conditioned, moisturized and hydrated. It can be done with conditioners, hot oil treatments and others.

Last but not the least, if you already have chemically treated hair such as hair coloring it is best to do away with hair relaxing or vice versa first to prevent more damage to the air. If you have considered all this and you are still decided to get that hair relaxing treatment, go for it! Now, you can look forward to having a “wash and wear” hair and flexibility because you can do more styles now that you have relaxed hair.

Most of the women today no longer have the time or the energy to fix the hair everyday, each morning. This is precisely the reason why they either get really short haircuts, one in which they can just wash and wear it with minimal or no maintenance at all or they go through hair relaxers even if there is a lot of chance that their hair gets ruined.

Hair relaxers can do that to your hair. The chemicals used do not have the best intentions for your hair. Of course, hair salon experts would always advise you to get hot oil or another expensive treatment just to avoid hair damage.

Thus, it defeats the purpose entirely because you have to spend most of your time in a salon, trying to fix the damage that the hair relaxing solution has done to it. Although, the goal that you had in mind was achieved this was to get straight hair.

By far, hair relaxes are still the cheapest hair straightening salon service today. This could be the reason why there is still countless number of women who get this service even if they know the chances that they get of damaging their hair. Maybe the thought they could reverse the damage done by hair conditioners or take home hot oil treatments.

Well, it could but it would take a lot of effort from you. Aloe Vera, conditioners, hot oil treatments and even mayonnaise are just some of the different hair treatments that can be done at home. There are also some Kerastase products that you can take home. One of the great things about doing it at home is money that you have saved instead of having these treatments done at a salon.

Do not get me wrong hair relaxers can do the job. But there are still other options for you to take. You can buy ceramic hair straighteners that are if you have the time to straighten your hair daily or you can save what you have now; wait until the time you can afford other hair straightening methods.

Hair Relaxer Is Still An Option Albeit A Dangerous One

There was a time when you want to have your hair straightened and the only option that you had back then was a hair relaxer. So many people have tried relaxing their hair only to end up with dry, brittle hair. What you have to know is that a hair relaxer is a solution that you apply to your hair to straighten it out.

Sounds simple and it should not cause any problems to anybody right? Wrong. As people who have been relaxing their hair have complained on different hair problems such as: hair breakage, thinning of hair, baldness and hair loss, scalp irritation, scalp damage and others.

Another thing you have to know about a hair relaxer is that there are two kinds of hair relaxers: One is the "lye" relaxer and the other is the "no lye" relaxer. The difference can be seen by the way they are called. One has lye while the other kind has no lye.

Actually if these two kinds of hair relaxers are used improperly, that is when the problem starts. These chemicals tend to over process your hair which is why those who have their hair relaxed should listen carefully to their hair dressers because they are the experts in the field of hair and beauty. There are certain rules that one should follow especially if you already had tried relaxing the hair.

The most important thing you have to know about getting your hair relaxed is your hair would be required to undergo through healthy hair care treatments for a long, long time. It is a commitment on your part to your hair. Hair is your crowning glory and a person should take of the hair.

This could be the reason why people end up with damaged hair because after the hair relaxer technique, they never went back to the salon for hair treatments. But I somehow understand why there are still some people who opt to have their hair relaxed and that is because of budget. It is cheaper and they somehow get what they paid for and that is straight hair.
