I need your advice, girls. Japanese Hair Straightening, also known as Thermal Reconditioning, is a very popular hair straightening technique. The treatment can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours and involves numerous steps with costs ranging from 0 to ,500 depending on the salon. The result is permanently straight hair but after 4 to 9 months any new hair growth will need to be treated as well. This usually costs close to the same amount as the original treatment because it is a more time-consuming process involving straightening hair closer to the roots.

go to the asian salons because it’s generally cheaper and they’re better at it.

I know you weren’t asking for my two cents, but I just want to say that the first thing I noticed about you was your gorgeous natural waves. It is striking…truly striking. The straight hair is totally up to you of course, but I never catch myself saying the same about straight hair as I have your hair. I have actually shown my Mom and sister how gorgeous your hair is with the natural wave. However, I know you will be beautiful…even if you went G.I. Jane.
pros = if you go to a good place, your hair can end up really straight and it is permenant til new growth. cons = your hair doesnt really weigh down the new growth and yes your roots will be curly and the ends will be straight.. and you can tell that ur roots are growing out within 2 months (well depending on how fast ur hair grows) so to me..it was kind of pointless bc i had to straighten roots everyday anyway.
Hey! I just randomly came across your video today. I have had those “permanent” treatments done on my hair–more than once. Honestly, I don’t really think they work as great as they promise. When I came out of the salon, my hair was really straight and beautiful. But when I washed my hair and let it air dry, it definitely wasn’t as curly as before, but it wasn’t straight either. So I don’t really feel the treatment delivers its promise. I had to style my hair just as I did before. Good luck!
My hair looks very similar to yours and I have considered the japanese straightening.I have hesitated for several reasons:Hair never looks naturally straight. Looks straight in a weird kind of way. Always potential of damage to your hair to the point of your hair falling out (rare, but possible). Once you do it, you don’t have the option of that carefree, beachy, wavy look to your hair. It is expensive. Just my two cents. I have totally considered it myself, but just can’t bring myself to do it.
i think your naturally wavy hair is amazing! My hair is naturally stick straight and it’s so boring! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. : ) But for what it’s worth, I think your hair looks gorgeous as it is!
Aiden loves the TV. lol
I got mine done for about $160 when my hair was shoulder length. And under $300 when my hair was long. Check around asian salons. The price is less inflated and the products more advanced, since it is really common in asia. They might not be able to speak english very well, but it’s worth it.
It didn’t really damage my hair. Good luck!
I had this done while I was in Dubai in December 2007. It made my hair very straight and I did not have to do anything to it after coming after the shower. It was comb and go type of thing. At this point most of it has been cut off, but the ends of my hair are still straight. I have to blow dry it now, but it was worth it while it lasted. It’s a good thing to do when you have small children and not much time for yourself
Well, you already know that I love your hair when it’s wavy. I would love to have your wavy hair. But it’s ultimately your decision. Just keep in mind that it is permanent and very expensive. But you know, if it makes you feel good when it’s straight, who am I to tell you not to go for it.
I always thought one of the prettiest things about you is your long, wavy, beautiful hair! I have long hair too, and I know it is a pain to flat iron–but, I really like your hair! Plus, think of all the makeup you could buy with that money!:) Lisa
That is too expensive. There is nothing wrong with your hair. It is beautiful.
That’s way too expensive. Go on DulceCandy87′s channel. She used a straightener called K-Styler, and her hair never went back to their natural curls; it’s bone straight. Give her a shout. I’m sure she’ll help. Good luck.
Thank you… I will look her up!:)
I believe Jessie, whose YouTube user name is echoli, briefly mentioned that she used that type of straightening in one of her videos. You could contact her. Plus she has nice videos.
That makes sense.
Good luck!
I agree I love your hair curly it really suits you!
That sounds like a good idea. Expensive though. I just use GHD hair straighteners. They do the job and theyre only like £100
